The 1701 refit that made its debut in Star Trek: The Motion Picture is for many fans the favorite of all Enterprise designs. It was used in the first six films, but over time became worn. In 2006, the model disappeared into private hands. Now, the team that originally built it is preparing to do it again through Project Enterprise. And Nichelle Nichols, the actress who played the ship’s communications officer, has offered her support as the official spokesperson.
